My name is Melissa Y. Cruz, and I am the proud Principal of Juarez-Lincoln Elementary, an identified Reading First Campus. I have worked with United ISD for 10 years, and I am starting my third year at Juarez-Lincoln. Previously, I was the Assistant Principal at Salvador Garcia for three years. I also had the opportunity to work at Perez Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary as a counselor from 1995-1999. My classroom experience was obtained at Lamar Middle School and United High School. I was a classroom teacher from 1990-1995.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with a double major in English and Math. In addition, I obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Science in Educational Administration.

I am married to Rene Fernando Cruz, and I have one daughter Alyssa Nicole.

I am looking forward to a great 2005-2006 "VOYAGE TO SUCCESS" school year.
